Have No Fear, You Can Run Here
One of the first precautions I was told last year as a freshman was to not to find myself on Chad Brown Street alone or… ever. This obviously peaked my interest, so I quickly learned about what made Chad Brown so dangerous. Coming from the Jersey Shore area, I had left a summer of morning runs on the boardwalk, so being told to stay clear of running outside campus was disappointing.
My first year at PC was still filled with runs outside but I never strayed too far away from the perimeter of the campus. Now, as a sophomore, I am finding new routes and enjoying my runs around the school. No matter how far or long you want to run there are various routes I have found that give me a great workout.
Below are three routes I run often and are 100% safe. You will not be finding yourself in a sketchy area at all. I promise! (The app I use is MapMyRun)
If you’re ever in need of fitting in a quick run, this one is for you. I start from the back of Aquinas and go down Guzman Hill to reach Eaton Street. Once on Eaton, run straight down and turn left at the end of the street. Follow Douglas Ave until you see the CVS on the corner and turn left to eventually turn back on Huxley to finish at Concannon.
This one is similar to the first but to add on a bit more continue up Huxley past the security gate and yes, sorry… run up Guzman Hill to go by the chapel and down to Ruane. Turn once you hit Ruane to go towards Slavin and run past the track until you hit the end of the street there and turn around to finish at Concannon.
My personal favorite route is this one here. I start behind Aquinas and run down Huxley towards Admiral Street. Follow Admiral until you see the gas station on your left and turn down River to continue down Eaton. Go to Suites Gates and run up past Suites Hall all the way to Concannon.
