PREVIEW: MILAN FASHION WEEK
We’ve heard of London. We’ve heard of Paris. But this week, it’s all about Milan. The excitement of Milan Fashion Week 2018 will run from February 21 to February 27. The lights, camera and action are to be expected BUT designers are shaking things up and straying from the traditional ways. The Italian powerhouses Dolce and Gabbana, Fendi and Gucci to name a few are prepared for the media, buyers and fashionistas to indulge on what they have to show.
Moncler, an Italian outerwear brand, released a teaser Tuesday night (February 20) to what is to come in their “Genius” series. The collection revealed a new take on what we consider our winter outerwear. You may own a Moncler down or puffer jacket but get ready for that hip or above the knee length jacket to fit more like a gown. YES, a gown. Moncler is taking things further and extending the material down to the floor and making the silhouette A-line. Who knows how long this trend will take to hit American soil but I’m excited to see where it goes.
Whether you watch The Crown or not, Jaqueline Kennedy is to be revisited not only on the Netflix original but on the runway. The Italian luxury continues with Moschino presenting the classic style featured in the early 60s. From the models hair style to the clothing, the presence of Jackie O was eminent. The style of the Jaqueline Lee lives on.
Gucci, Gucci, Gucci. The Italian brand is most famously known for their lasting impressions and creative collections. Gucci has done it again with having their models carry fake heads, baby dragons, snakes and much more while walking on the cat walk. More than anything, they know how to put on a show. The collection is presented in this bold display with the models outfitted in clothing inspired by different cultures and ethnicities.
Over the course of the next few days, Versace, Salvatore Ferragamo, Giorgio Armani, Piccione Piccione and many other designers will present their new collections for the upcoming seasons.
