Jumping Into Spring with JCREW
On Wednesday, March 20th, PCLF had our annual J.Crew event. At the event, we were able to hear from a member of the J.Crew store at the Providence Place Mall on their take on how to pair certain items, and then given the opportunity to shop around with a discount. This event has been held in December in past years, with the idea that students can break into winter fashion and maybe get some holiday gifts. Having it in March this year had a refreshing new kick, as we got to see the new spring line and get ourselves into more of a ~sunny state of mind.~
The highlight of the night was the presentation we received from one of the store managers, Brandon. Brandon took about 5 items from both the men’s and women’s lines, and was able to put them together to make about 12 items each. This was an awesome opportunity for us to see how to dress things both up and down, and how to buy staple items to be worn many different ways (which is particularly important to us college students who are shopping on a budget). My personal favorite line that Brandon said was, “Here at J.Crew, we believe leopard print is a neutral.” This was definitely evident, by the plethora of various leopard print items lining their walls.
Another really cool thing that Brandon mentioned was J.Crew’s jean recycling program. Through this program, customers are able to bring in any old pair of jeans (they do not have to be from J.Crew), and donate them to receive a $20 coupon to use on any new denim item. The donated jeans are then recycled to be used as denim insulation, which is used in things like houses being built through Habitat for Humanity.
All in all the event was a tremendous success, and we want to thank the staff at JCrew who went above and beyond to welcome and accommodate us. We hope to stay in touch with the store and plan future events like this one!
