This Is Us Recap: Season 2, Episode 3

The main question we are left with after Episode 3 is, why are we STILL left in the dust with Jack’s mysterious death?!? In this episode, flashbacks of Jack’s life haunt the Pearson kid’s present day storylines. The Pearson kids are forced to cope with tough realities as Kevin has to deal with unresolved grief and Randall and Beth take on fostering a troubled teen.

The first guest star makes their grand

appearance on this episode and its none other than Sylvester Stallone (anyone else think this was a random guest star choice?). Sylvester and Kate deliverer a powerful scene on Kevin’s movie set. Kate thanks Sylvester for making her late father “feel good” during difficult times.

Hate to say it but Jack and Rebecca’s relationship was a fairytale in Season 1. We are now realizing how far apart they have grown, as Rebecca awkwardly tries to fix their intimate problems. Her plan to “woo” Jack over was unsuccessful and sadly it seems like their relationship is all down here from here (sad face).

Deja, Randall’s new foster child, entered Randall’s home and he tried soooo hard to make her feel welcome. We are lead to believe that Deja comes around and opens up to the family; however, at the end of the episode she storms off leaving us with little hope of the new family to work out.

I hope everyone paid attention to the very last seconds of the episode, where Kevin quickly pops pills into his mouth. Wait, he did WHAT?!?!?! Yes, Kevin took questionable pills and we hear Kate in the background say, “He’s just like you”. We can assume that Kate is referring to Jack. Is Kevin mirroring Jack’s demons? Kevin

is clearly not a drinker but does he have a drug problem? This leaves many questions for Episode 4! Next week cannot come any quicker…
